The main goal of Luis Sanz’s visit to Hungary this year is to adapt the successful models of the IASP during the development of model-changed Universities and Science and Innovation Parks.To this end, he held a meeting with the leaders of the TTP Alliance in the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, with Ádám Kiss, the president of the National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NKFIH) and László Bódis, the deputy state secretary responsible for innovation.

During the meeting, the participants agreed that it means significant added values ​​for early-stage innovation and business models when they can learn about successful programs and projects from international practice that have already been implemented.

It is a historic achievement for Hungary that the University of Óbuda and the Sport Life Science Park became members of the IASP in September 2022, thereby joining the world’s largest innovation community, said Luis Sanz, head of the IASP’s knowledge sharing program. The good practices, benchmarks and KPIs on the basis of which the world’s most successful Science Parks have developed are available in the IASP’s knowledge sharing program, their application represents a unique competitive advantage for Hungarian players.

The main activities of the international organization are the customized courses and trainings, during which leading experts from around the world are involved in the cooperation. IASP’s strategic partner is the Joint Research Center established by the European Commission, in cooperation with which the results of the research examining European Science Parks are incorporated into the European Commission’s policy to your program. In addition to individual projects, the program is also a unique opportunity for the entire Science Park system for the international dissemination of the achieved results, the international authority highlighted.

Norbert Mórucz, the president of the TTP Association, presented the training and organizational development program developed for Hungary with the IASP, within the framework of which the model-changed universities and their Science and Innovation Parks can involve authentic knowledge that matches their profile in the implementation of their program.

The R&D cadastre, which serves as the basis for scientific and business planning is designed, based on international benchmarks and KPIs, which is already being introduced in the Science Park of two model-changed universities. Organizational development innovation has already produced measurable results in the short term, emphasized the head of the Hungarian organization.

Dr. Dávid Roland, the strategic director of the TTP Association, emphasized that the monitoring and utilization of scientific results is only possible with the introduction of a protocol regulated to professional standards. Transparing and evaluating the projects from the point of view of marketability, which is already underway in the case of the mentioned two institutions.

The application of the system ensures that research activities are carried out in accordance with the expectations of market players and society. By expanding the system to other elements of the innovation ecosystem in addition to the Science Parks, we guarantee in the long term that the innovation results create added value in our country, added Dr. Roland David.

As a result of the consultation, the participants aimed to develop a program consisting of five elements, which is being carried out by the TTP Association. In the initial phase of the program, experts from the IASP and the TTP Association assess the strategic objectives of the Science Parks and evaluate the market relevance of the development portfolio.

In the second stage, the experiences of the survey and the recommendations of the IASP will be incorporated into the Science Parks’ rating system, which will also appear in the title competition aimed at winning the “Science and Innovation Park” titles.

The key element of the cooperation is the IASP Knowledge Sharing Program launched in the third phase. Within the framework of the 8-module training series, IASP’s leading experts hold training for model-changing universities and Science and Innovation Parks.

The fourth objective is the development and introduction of a measurement and performance evaluation system supporting the target system of the Hungarian innovation strategy, with the help of which the portfolio has transparent, up-to-date and adequate information on the current performance of the innovation ecosystem.

As part of the program, the TTP Association prepares and connects the Hungarian Science and Innovation Parks to the IASP network, as well as actively participates in organizational development and the definition of IASP benchmarks and KPIs. The preparation and planning of the program is carried out by the TTP Association, as a result of which it prepares a policy strategy and proposal for the NKFIH and the Ministry of Culture and Innovation.
